Pete was born and raised in Oakland, California. He and Cheryl fell in love at the University of California, Davis, and married in 1994. Ten years later, while living in Minneapolis, the Lord blessed them with the birth of their son, Jonathan. Pete loves his predawn workout, fly fishing, date nights with Cheryl, helping with Jonathan's Scout patrol and soccer team, and get togethers with his big Italian family. Pete committed his life to Jesus and was born again when he was 18 years old. He has served Christ as a camp counselor, college ministry leader, at-risk child counselor, youth pastor, hospital chaplain, and as a church pastor in Minneapolis, MN, for nine years before his call to Neelsville in 2010. He holds post-graduate degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary (M.Div) in Pasadena, CA and Bethel Seminary (Doctor of Ministry) in St. Paul MN.
Derek provides pastoral support, advocacy, and alignment to NPC's Local Missions, Opening Doors Mentoring Ministry, ESL, and Mission Council. He serves to equip the saints for service, recruit new volunteers, and connect mission service with discipleship.
Paul (Young Kwon Kim) is a graduate of Gordon-Conwell Seminary M.Div and the University of Utah. He and his wife, Joslin, and son, Evan, and daughter, Evelyn, moved to the area so Paul could pursue a Masters in Counseling at Johns Hopkins University.
Paul oversees our Adult Discipleship and teaches a class every Sunday based on the sermon text. He is also a Pastoral Candidate for ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians.
Jamie, a San Diego native, has been married to her husband, Kevin, for more than a decade. Together they raise their three children Madeline, Charlotte, and Jason. Jamie's professional roles before coming to Neelsville include being a church ministry coordinator, a MOPS ministry coordinator,a youth development specialist, a secondary English and Theater teacher, and adjunct college professor. Jamie loves theater, reading, and chasing her little ones around the park. She is passionate about helping families disciple their children and being part of a fellowship of families who can support one another and grow in the Lord together. Andy is from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He met his wife Tamara in high school at their student ministry, and they got married in May of 2016. Andy has a passion for developing mature faith in students that prepares them to go out into adulthood. He has started a young adult guys Bible Study. Steve was born in Korea and grew up in Forth Worth, Texas and San Francisco, California. He is pursuing his DMA in Choral Conducting at the University of Maryland College Park while teaching music at a magnet high school for the performing arts in Hyattsville, MD. Steve and Yoonie met and married in New Jersey and this year welcomed the arrival of their precious daughter, Jina Jemim Kim. Josiah and Hyeeun were married in Olympia, Washington on August 10th, 2016, and moved to Greenbelt, Maryland shortly afterwards. Hyeeun is an American citizen born in Korea. She served for seven years at Trinity Church, a Presbyterian congregation in Spring Valley, California. Josiah is a Doctoral student in Collaborative Piano at the University of Maryland. They enjoy travel, nature, and cooking together.
Tricia has served as Neelsville Office Administrator since 2005 and has been a member since 1999. She keeps the office running and acts as liaison to the Board of Trustees and Deacons. Tricia along with her husband, Chris, and children, Elyssa and Josh, live in Mount Airy with multiple pets. Tricia enjoys gardening, reading, crocheting, and fishing with her family.
Wendy is a long-time member of Neelsville Church, attending since the age of five. She has served on staff as Treasurer since 2007. Recently retired after 30 years with Lockheed Martin, Wendy enjoys volunteering in many capacities at church and tackling projects around the house that have been set aside for years. Wendy married her high school sweetheart, Gregg, at Neelsville in 1984. They have three sons, two daughters-in-law, and their first grandchild on the way. In her spare time, Wendy enjoys traveling, boating, gardening, music, crafts and baking.
Angela has lived in this area for almost ten years and she has been a believer in Jesus for as long as she can remember. She and Bob married in 1998 and make their home here in Germantown.
Angela loves sing, crafts, kids and animals. In their free time, Angela and Bob love the great outdoors, traveling, hiking and reading.
Dalafaka was born Washington D.C. and is a recent graduate of Howard University. He is pursuing a career in the medical field as a doctor for the community and the less privileged. "I love the church and its call to lead us, to all us higher, and to help us grow into bigger and better disciples of our Lord." His hobbies include reading fantasy, sci-fi and gaming and he enjoys a wide range music especially smooth jazz and classical.
Neelsville and Milestone Community Preschool partner to provide a loving Christian preschool that reinforces Biblical truths and family values. Connie founded Damascus Community Preschool (DCP) in 1985 and has served as the director leading her team in enriching the lives of hundreds of children and their famliies in Upper Montgomery County. Connie lives in Frederick with her husband of 37 years, Gary, who is a pastor at Brook Hill United Methodist Church in Frederick, MD. She is mother of two and grandmother of five. She enjoys reading, cooking, crafts, and her grandchildren.
Elida is originally from El Salvador. For the past 13 years she has kept the church facliity clean as a whistle. Elida is a mother of three and grandmother of three. She enjoys daily Bible reading and family dinners every weekend.
