Audition Info

Children age 6 and up who are interested in speaking and singing solo parts can audition Tuesday, June 25 from 8:15-8:45pm. Parents are asked to wait in the welcome center while their child/children audition.

How to audition for a speaking role:

We realize for some children this is the very first audition experience. What a joy! Please know we are kind and patient, and eager to help your child succeed. We will encourage good auditioning habits by asking them to enter the room with the directors to introduce themselves. Your child can memorize a short monologue to recite at the audition. We will post options for those monologues here on this website very soon. We will also have short scenes your child can read from on the day of audition that the directors will give to your child.

Children who would like to audition for a vocal solo can sing any song of their choosing or be prepared to sing "Happy Birthday" a Capella. A CD player will be available to use if accompaniment is needed. They can sing without accompaniment too. We are looking to hear about a minute of singing.

Parents will not be allowed in the audition room but can wait outside in the check in area.

About the musical... AGAPE LEAGUE!

High in the mountains in the impenetrable Agape Fortress, General Agape has called the mighty Agape League together to solve a crisis in Suburbia City! Calling on the super-powered fruits of the spirit available to every follower of Christ, these heroes must also face an enemy within their own ranks when Ironblade forgets his superhero identity (self control) and becomes entangled in the pervasive worldly culture. Things worsen when they learn that unless each member continues to exhibit their gifts, the entire group faces the same fate! Will the League recover their powers? Will the citizens of Suburbia City be saved? Will the source of true power -- God's Word -- finally be utilized before time runs out? Find out in the latest release from Word Kids, The Agape League: Superheroes of the Spirit!

Q. & A.

Q: Is it ok if we don't attend Neelsville Church?

A: Absolutely! We would love to have your child part of this program.

Q: My child has no singing or acting experience; is that ok?

A: We are so glad your child will be joining us! No experience is necessary. This will be a great time for your child to learn vocal and performing arts skills that can increase confidence and poise. And even if performing isn't their thing, there are a lot of other fun aspects of the Kids Rock program.

Q: If my child doesn't want to perform in the musical but wants to enjoy the full night's program, is that ok?

A: Please email our director at neelsvillekids@gmail.com to discuss possibilities for this. There are other tasks such as set design and sound and lighting tech that children can be part of.

Q: Is it ok if we miss a lot of the rehearsals? We have a lot of vacations planned.

A: It's summer, so we completely understand that it's traveling time. Please let us know in advance (even on the registration form). If you know your child will miss more than two rehearsals, this program might not be the best fit.  It will be director's discretion to give a spot to a child who can attend more or allow participation in the program nights but not the final musical performance if the child is not familiar with their part, music, and choreography.

Q: Are volunteers background checked?

A: Yes, safety is a priority.

Q: If my child is born after the cut-off date, can we make an exception?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot make this exception to be fair to our families and leaders. But we do hope your child can join us next year!
